Balancing the Elements of Your Birth Chart

Manifesting the Best Year of Your Life!
January 5, 2016

The Sun moves into the Sign of Taurus on April 20th and remains in Taurus until May 20th.  Happy Birthday to All my Taurean family (there’s a lot of us this month!), friends and readers! Have a Terrific Birthday!

In “Our Journey” this month, our focus will be about the Planet Venus, the ruler of Taurus and her influence on us in our Birth Charts.

The Element that governs Taurus is Earth, and since we have covered Earth a fair bit in the past, talking about the planets and specifically Venus, will not only shake things up a bit, but is also well timed as we come closer to Mother’s Day, and celebrating the love we have for our Mothers and Others!

My goal is to help you to learn about your Venus placement in your Birth Chart and the impact the Goddess of Love has on you. To do so we will look at five things…

  1. Your Birth Chart (if you don’t have one click on this link)
  2. The Sign & House placement of Venus is in on your Chart
  3. Information about the Planets, Signs & Houses
  4. The Energies of the Planet Venus
  5. Weaving the info all together or using a resource that does it for you!

Let’s start by looking on your Birth Chart for the above symbol. This is Venus. In your chart, you will see the Venus symbol, numbers and another symbol beside it, which will resemble the sample chart below (this is part of Oprah’s Chart). In her chart, Venus is in the 2nd House in the Sign of Aquarius. What Sign is your Venus in?

For now, ignore the numbers and focus only on the symbols. Below is a chart with all the symbols to help you identify each of the planet and sign symbols.

On your birth chart you will also see numbers from one to twelve going around in a circle (see Oprahs chart above for the location of the house numbers). These are the Twelve Houses, jot down or circle what House number the Planet Venus is in on your chart .

So now what you have is…Venus in the ____ House, in the Sign of _________. This is one of the ways this information is phrased (which is also applicable to all your other planets). With this information, you can learn about the affects Venus has on you, and in which area of your life she is most significant.

First let’s get to know a little about the Planets and Venus, and the House & Sign she is in. Keep reading and you will connect more of the dots…

About The Planets & Venus
A planet’s expression is determined by its sign and house placement. Everyone has a Venus – we all possess the part of the psyche it symbolizes. But not everyone has Venus in the 2nd house, in the Sign of Aquarius. Once you are familiar with the functions of each planet, you can then discover how those functions express themselves (sign placement) and in what area of life they are most likely to manifest (house placement) in your own Birth Chart.

The term planet refers to the Sun, Moon, and the other bodies in the solar system, which include Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron.

Each planet represents a function in the human personality or psyche, and are grouped into three categories: the personal planets, which comprise Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and Chiron. The “outer planets” are more often applied to Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, whereas Jupiter and Saturn are considered the “social” planets.

Generally, our personal planets are felt very deeply by each of us and therefore hold much more significance than the other planets. This is a very general statement however, because there are so many layers to ones Birth Chart in how all the energies work together and affect each another. But setting the personal planets as a priority to learn about, is a great place to start.

Here is a link to a website that breaks down the energies of each planet, and the impact they have on our lives (Chiron isn’t there but we will talk about Chiron down the road).

In Greek mythology, Venus was Aphrodite the goddess of love and desire. In Astrology she is the Planet that rules both Taurus and Libra and the 2nd and 7th House.

Venus is a feminine energy that is more receptive than assertive and rules over the realm of our desires, pleasure and love. She enjoys drawing people and things to her as opposed to chasing after them.

Through Venus, you experience joy, pleasure, sensuality, romance, harmony in our emotional attachments, marriages, friendships, partnership and the nature of your own sexuality and all earthly pleasures. She deals with the pleasure we derive from our possessions…food, beverages, paintings, jewelry, a beautiful home etc. This planet asks us to appreciate the incredible beauty and exquisite nature of things.

Venus is content spreading happiness and tenderness, all the while teaching us how to love and appreciate others and the things we possess. The appreciation of beauty, the arts and a sense of aesthetic all fall in the realm of Venus. She calls us to indulge our senses and revel in the beauty of the world. That of refinement, culture, charm and grace. As Spiritual Beings, Venus believes we should truly enjoy all that we can while we are here, having our Human Experience!

The Goddess of love also reveals much about the way we approach relationships, romance and love. The placement of your Venus by sign, house and aspects shows how and where we go about expressing love.

The Signs & Houses
Here are two great links to learn more about the Signs. The first link talks about the Signs in general and the second link gives you a breakdown of each of the
12 Signs. Start by focusing on the sign the Planet Venus is in, on your chart.

The Zodiac Wheel above gives you an idea of what each of the Twelve Houses represents. Here is a link to a site that will give you a more in depth look at each of them.

Okay, so I know this is a lot, and if you don’t have the time or desire to read all the info or resources I have provided, I get it.

There are a few alternative options that will still get you some very valuable information. There are a number of websites that have combined the information for you.  So if you want to read about Your Venus in the 2nd House in the Sign of Aquarius you don’t have to weave it all together on your own. Below are a few links you may find helpful…

What I like about these links, is that Ken shares the information, gives you tips on applying key words together to help you make a bit more sense of your chart, and he also talks about the importance of having someone help you with pulling all the information together to give you the whole picture, not just the snippets.

Don’t get me wrong, I love snippets, but there is so much information and layers in astrology, snippets just don’t have as much value when they are in isolation. Not if you want to really get to know yourself the way you can when you learn about how it all ties together and you are able to look at the whole picture.

You can also goggle your Venus placement… ie. Venus in the second house, and in the sign of Aquarius.

So go ahead and take a look at the snippets, but if something doesn’t make sense or fit…that’s when a reading by a professional astrologer can be the perfect solution or continue going deeper on your journey with Astrology to also learn about the aspects and how each of the components of Astrology effect each other.

Before signing off I want to share with you one of my favorite Taurean Stones…Rosophia! I think it is one of the sweetest stones I have ever encountered for the Heart Chakra. It just oozes Love Energy! Here’s a link to what Robert Simmons has to say about her.

April 20th 2016

This Blog post is dedicated to All the Beautiful Women of the World! A tribute to all women, for Mother’s Day & beyond!

To start things off, I want to thank my mom, my grandmother, all my aunties, my sisters, my mom’s friends (my other aunties), my girlfriends and all the other women who I love and who love me! For those that are here on Earth and all those who have passed. Thank you! Thank you! Thank You!… I am so very grateful for all the love I have in my life! I love you all! My heart is full and I feel truly blessed!

The celebration of Mother’s Day and how I nurture and am nurtured by my family, has really changed over the years, as I am sure it has for many of you. There have been many times throughout my life, that I have felt completely loved and supported, and other times when I really yearned to be comforted,  and feel loved unconditionally.

Whether or not we get what we need emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually as a child, adolescent and as an adult, all have huge impacts on our journey and how we feel about ourselves, which is why I think this is a very important topic to talk about.

There are thousands of miles between my mother and I, physically and metaphorically, making connecting challenging at times, but we do find our ways. My Grandmother & Grandfather whom I was very close with, have been gone for many years. Their passing left big gaping holes in my heart, that I struggled with for quite sometime. I felt their deaths very deeply and still get emotional when I think about them and all that they gave me, I really miss them. The love I felt from both of them, and especially my grandmother was unconditional and truly incredible!

Although we are all in different places with the love we have or had in our lives, at a very basic level, all most of us want, is to be loved…and of course loved unconditionally!

As we get older, we may not get the same love and nourishment we got, as we were growing up and perhaps we didn’t have it at all. Unconditional Love… Compassion, Understanding, Acceptance, Nourishment and Appreciation comes in all kinds of shapes and sizes! And if we are lucky, from many people, that come in and out of our lives. But how are we dealing with it, if…

  • We don’t have it?
  • Or what we have, doesn’t feel like it’s enough?
  • Or if we are feeling like we are not worthy of love?

Our relationships with our Mothers and others, can be very complicated, multi-faceted and sometimes non-existent. I am not a therapist, but it doesn’t take one to know that many of us have challenges with our relationships. We all have an inner child that needs to be cared for and nurtured, as well as an inner mother who needs to find her way. When our Inner Child & Mother challenges aren’t dealt with, we may not feel or be completely whole.

So how do we get what we need?

I would like to propose that in addition to expressing our love and gratitude for all those who love and nourish us this and every Mother’s Day, we also take some time to check-in with ourselves to see if there are any inner mother or child  issues, challenges, buried blocks etc. that maybe we haven’t healed or dealt with. To choose to express the most nourishing kind of love to ourselves, so that we can feel that we are worthy! To nourish ourselves internally and find way to fill our own cups. And if we need help we search for it.

As amazing as it is to receive love from others, it is equally important for our well-being, that we care for ourselves. When it comes right down to it, nobody knows how to fill your cup better than you. Everything we need is all inside each of us. It is up to us to work through our challenges and find ways to nourish and love ourselves. To care for our child within, as well as our inner mother. We all need to be nurtured and cared for, why not start a dialog with your child and mother within?

I bet they teach you something about yourself…perhaps something that you can do differently to care for yourself?

When we find ways to love and nurture ourselves, then all the other love that we receive outside of ourselves is like icing on a cake!

There are so many healing options available to us right now. The universe has really set us up like no other time in the past, to get what ever help it is we need to heal, grow and transform. To become the very best version of ourselves. Not only for ourselves, but the greater good of all human and spiritual beings.

I have found some wonderful resources about Our Inner Mother & Child. I hope that you will take some time to check them out…

(Adapted from Reconciliation: Healing The Inner Child by Thich Nhat Hanh) - Loving Your Inner Child…Releasing Hurts of the Past

(Therese J. Borchard)

“Transforming the Inner Mother”: Become the Mother you Always Wanted - To Yourself”. Be sure to sign up for her mailing list to receive Bethany Websters free e-book…

I would guess that most of us have things that we haven’t worked through. Imagine though, if we were to take what ever was there (sadness, loneliness, anger, resentment, jealousy, etc.) and transformed it into love, joy, compassion and forgiveness?

  • How freeing would that be?
  • What then would we make room for?

Healing has a way of rippling through so many areas of our lives, we have no idea, of the amazing experiences that will come our way as a result.

A fantastic Heart Chakra Stone to work with! Kunzite is also a Water Stone, that helps to open us up to receive unconditional love…from ourselves.

If you have low water in your Birth Chart, it is worth connecting with to see if Kunzite is a match for you! Visit our Elemental Stones page, scroll down to The Element of Water to read more about Kunzite.

It would be fantastic if we could all find a little time to do some tree planting this year and every year! With all the trees that were lost in this years ice storm, our forests need all the help we can give them. There are a number of organizations that would love your help with planting. (see below)

Until next time!

April 11th 2016

Our Birth Charts are rich, dynamic, living statements, full of insights, guidelines and even arrows pointing us in various directions for exploration. It’s a flowing interconnected web, full of options and choices. Working with your Birth Chart can be very inspiring, enlightening, confidence building, transformational and definitely life changing…it’s all about Growth…Our Soul’s Journey.

Although Birth Chart interpretation is based on weaving all the parts of one’s chart together to create an accurate portrait of an individual as a whole, we can look at sections of the chart to gain insights to certain areas, aspects or parts of our lives. This allows us to learn a little at a time in small bite size pieces.

This month “Our Journey” will focus on the Element of Fire. How we work with it to balance and to Ignite or Calm the Fire and Passion in our lives!

We will also look at how to balance ours energies and personality traits by looking at the opposite side of the Zodiac wheel of our Sun Sign.

As of March 21st, the Sun moved into the Sign of Aries and will be there until April 19th. Happy Birthday to all my Arian family, friends and Visions Members! Happy Belated Birthday to those of you, whose Birthday’s have already passed this month!

Aries, the first Astrological sign of the Zodiac, represents, courage, bravery, leadership, initiative, action, speed, independence, abundance, and assertiveness.

The Sun represents our will and purpose, our sense of vitality and our evolving higher Self.  Aries people tend to be energetic, forceful and outgoing. They are good at getting things started, not always interested in finishing. Like the energy of the first rush of spring, they move into the world in a headstrong, pioneering way.

They are likely to rush into things before reflecting, and may also be impatient or unwilling to sit back and allow events to mature. Aries people tend to have great vitality and a tremendous need to be physically active. They have a strong will, and can be self-centered about pursuing it, they may try to dominate other people until they learn to be more subtle about getting their way. They also have an acute need for love and affection. Aries benefits from self-discipline, so that they can channel their abundant energy constructively.

Aries is ruled by the Element of Fire…representing energy, vitality, creation, will power, passion, transformation and enlightenment.

When We are Out of Balance with Fire…we may feel apathetic, depressed, lost, without faith, disconnection, inactivity, poor digestion, self-centered, chronic coldness can also occur. You could also fear confrontation and have an inability to express your opinion, there could also be sexual disorders, reproductive challenges, insomnia, self-abuse, inflammatory diseases, powerlessness, habitual anger, hypercriticism and even anxiety attacks.

All other Elements can be found our our “Elements Page”.

When We Are in Balance with the Element of Fire…
positive creative flow comes easy to us, we feel good about our sexual expression and potency, our hormones and sexual drive is stable. We are easily able to tap into our intuition. We have strong metabolism, physical and life force energy as well as feeling empowered. The Element of Fire in balance encourages us to take action and transform.

Tending to your inner Fire, maintaining its warmth and illumination without letting its destructive, intense aspect control your life, is of the utmost importance for a Fire person or anyone born with their fire out of balance. Fire will always burn to the limit of its fuel and oxygen supply. Learning to regulate and temper your inner Fire is a worthy task.

You may already realize that Fire is an element worth exploring for you, but looking at your Birth Chart can take it to another level. It can indicate if you are in need of some small adjustments (3 or 5) or if more depth would be of value to you (0 to 2).

Remember, at a soul level you made choices of things that you would like to experience in this lifetime. Your Birth Chart is a snap shot of opportunities you have for maximum growth to support those choices. If Fire in your Birth Chart is above or below 4, there are opportunities here for you to explore to achieve balance with this element, which also directly impacts your other elements.

Fire may very well be the most challenging element to balance. Fire people tend to enjoy the way they are and may not easily see how their actions impact others in a repelling or challenging way. Sometimes it takes a few hard knocks at the door to help us see our opportunities to grow. Here are a few options and resources, for those that may be ready or in need of change and transformation:

Low Fire (lower than 4)…choose stones, activities, foods and experiences that are cleansing, stimulating and energizing.

High Fire (higher than 4)…choose stones, activities, foods and experiences that burn off excess energy and are cleansing, calming and quieting.

Choose activities from the list above, based on how high or low your Elemental Fire number is on your Birth Chart. If you would like to receive a FREE Birth Chart to follow along with us, simply join our mailing list. I send Birth Charts out in batches once a month. Submit your Birth Info on our FREE Birth Chart Page.

For more information about the Element of Fire and the other Elements, visit “The Five Elements of Nature” webpage.

It’s important to know in Astrology there is no good or bad…just opportunities to grow and get to know ourselves better. To know that Sun Sign information gives us a general and incomplete picture of who we are. It only focuses on one planet that shapes our personality…the Sun, when there are all the other planets, houses and aspects influencing the energies that shapes our journey.

It is also important to know that all the characteristics of every sign and planet, resides in each of us and that one person’s sign is no greater or less than another person’s sign. Each sign, planet, house placement and interaction with each other, has something to teach us about ourselves.

For example another way to bring balance into our lives is to learn from and absorb the energies of the sign that is directly opposite our own Sun Sign.  Most of us know quite a bit about the basics of our own Sun Signs. If we take a little time to learn about the Sign opposite us on the Zodiac Wheel, we not only build on our knowledge of Astrology, we can also choose to embrace and incorporate their balanced characteristic into our lives. Thus assisting us in making stronger choices for our growth and soul’s journey. Sort of the Yin to our Yang!

Fire & Air…Earth & Water!

As you can see from the Zodiac Wheel, all Fire signs are opposite Air Signs and all Earth Signs are opposite Water Signs. The two common denominators they share as opposites are:

  • Each pair of opposite share one of two major human archetypes. They are both either masculine (active and communicative - fire and air), or feminine feminine (nurturing and practical - water and earth).
Both needing to ensure they balance their opposite archetype, regardless of their own gender. Applying Yin and Yang to all areas of our lives.

  • Each opposite pair shares the same modality…
Cardinal signs are energetic, dynamic, proactive, and unafraid to try new things. Fixed signs have persistence, perseverance, and immobility, stability and are resistance to change. Mutable signs are flexible, changeable, adaptable, suggestible. They have a talent for being “in the moment” and are good with relationships and the details of day-to-day life.

The relationship between the opposite elements are quite interesting…

Air challenges Fire to stop and think about why they are doing what they are doing. The philosophical side of things is not always a priority for Fire. Alternatively, Fire encourages Air to get up and do something, rather than just sit around and discuss what should be done. Fire signs do not talk about what needs to be done, they just want to do it!

Water reminds Earth that there is more to life than status, facts and the material world. The need for love to be pure and given unconditionally flies in the face of the Earth sign’s love of logic. Earth teaches Water the value of being grounded to achieve stability, practicality and peace.

Aries and Libra will illustrate how Opposites can support each other…
Opposite Aries on the Zodiac Wheel is Libra.  Aries emphasizes personal interests…Libra relies on shared interests. Part of Aries journey is to discover ways to enjoy sharing interests with others, part of Libra’s journey is about enjoying interests of their own.  Aries can learn from Libra to cooperate socially, and value justice, Libra can learn from Aries the value of embracing new ideas and being optimistic. (Cardinal Modalities)

Here are the Other Opposite Signs:

  • Taurus focuses on physical stability…Scorpio upon emotional stability. Taurus learns from Scorpios an uncompromising integrity, Scorpio learns from Taurus patience and tenacity. (Fixed Modalities)

  • Gemini emphasizes the search of knowledge…Sagittarius the quest for wisdom. Gemini learns from Sagittarius to respect social ethics and see the big picture. Sagittarius learns from Gemini initiative and communication skills. (Mutable Modalities)

  • Cancer structures the emotions…Capricorn the physical world. Cancer learns from Capricorn to de-sentimentalize and be highly responsible. Capricorn learns from Cancer a kindness toward others and a devotion to home. (Cardinal Modalities)

  • Leo believes in personal values…Aquarius promotes collective social values. Leo learns from Aquarius to respect group wisdom and avoid idealistic extremes. Aquarius learns from Leo to trust and to share knowledge. (Fixed Modalities)

  • Virgo practices physical self-sacrifice…Pisces declares emotional self-sacrifice. Virgo learns from Pisces to be compassionate in service to others. Pisces learns from Virgo to plan out a day e.g., by making a list of “three” priorities that must be accomplished. Then the rest of the day will work itself out. (Mutable Modalities)

This gives you a foundational look at opposite signs. Imagine how exploring your Sun Sign and Opposite sign further, could teach you even more about yourself and achieving balance in this lifetime. I hope that you will continue to explore your opposite even deeper!

When an element is out of balance is comes down to needing one of two things…Calming or Stimulating. Here are just a few suggestions for the Element of Fire:

    Calming Stones:
Amber - warm and nurturing energy
Tiger’s Eye - grounding and calming
Apache Tears - cleansing, grounding and releasing
Larimar - cools hot tempers and guides excess passion into peace
Malachite - maintains emotional balance and enhances one’s willpower

    Stimulating Stones:
Citrine - activates the mind, stimulates creativity and personal will
Carnelian - courage, enthusiasm, passion, energy and confidence
Bumble Bee Jasper - passion and purpose
Golden Labradorite - awakening and consciousness
Rhodonite - community love, altruism and generosity

    Until next month…
    Lots of Love,

    March 31st 2016

I have recently returned from vacation on the beautiful island of Maui and have some wonderful things to share with you!  Among the many reasons one would chose to go to Maui, I had two strong motivators. One was to hang out with our beloved Kohola’s (Humpback Whales) of which we are major groupies! We chose the peak period that the Humpbacks would be migrating to Maui from Alaska, so we gratefully were able to spend some wonderful time with many of them. But I’ll save our Kohola story for a future blog post.

My second was to connect with a teacher/workshop about the Ancient Hawaiian System of Healing called Ho'oponopono, in hopes of continuing my journey.

It all started a few years ago, when I was introduced to it as part of a spiritual class I was attending. My experience was so profound I didn’t know what was happening to me. The shift I had hit me on all levels…emotionally, physically, spiritually and mentally. leaving me trembling uncontrollably for quite some time. I had never felt anything like that before. In less than a half hour, and the use of just a few words repeated in meditation, every part of me was letting go and forgiving a lifetime of anger, resentment and hate for an individual I never thought possible.

After having such a life changing experience, I went in search of other Ho’oponopono workshops. I attended a few locally, each teaching me something new, but there seemed to be something missing. So when we decided to return to Maui I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to go even deeper, in the area of the world it had originated.

I had done my best to search before our trip, and upon arrival to find a teacher/workshop that would work with our dates and as divine timing would have it, nothing popped out. So I let it go and proceeded to enjoy a variety of other activities with my wonderful husband.

A few days into our holiday, we were on the beach and I was looking for a book to read on my ipad and there it was, a book I had loaded onto my Audible App some time ago (if you are not familiar with Audible, it is fantastic! I love having books read to me, not only do you save your eyes from strain in the bright sun, I also find it very relaxing). Not just any book…the perfect book, a book I had forgotten I even had…Zero Limits by Joe Vitale and Dr Hew Len. An audible book on…Ho’oponopono!!!

What I soon discovered was…this was exactly what I needed! It wasn’t the teacher, it was this particular message, the inspiration from this particular book, read by the authors, right there on Ka’anapali Beach, on the magical Island of Maui!

Every chance I had, I listened to this book. I had moment after moment of powerful awakenings. The piece of the puzzle that I was missing was “Self-Identity Through Ho’oponopono” also known as SITH. After finishing the book I felt like I had just attended one of the most incredible workshops…how perfect was that? Wow…the expansion I felt was so liberating, inspiring and humbling, I couldn’t help but wonder, what else is possible? I was completely dialed in and connecting to everything around me. Cleaning, cleaning, cleaning and cleaning some more!

Acceptance, Love, going with the flow and trusting your intuition…it’s everything. Zero Limits is a fabulous book and having it read to you by its authors…perfection!

Needless to say, the remaining days of my vacation were fantastic! But that is not where my SITH journey ended. After being home for a few days, and still feeling very inspired by my experience, I began searching to connect with a community of people that also had SITH experiences.

I synchronistically discovered another Ho’oponopono opportunity on this website  A site that lists classes that are happening around the world, among other things!

So although I feel good about my ability to utilize the cleansing process, I want to feel the experience of cleansing with others and share our experiences. There are only two places in Canada this year, where Self-Identity Through Ho’oponopono Classes are being held. One in Montreal the other in Vancouver. The one that was calling to me…Vancouver! Growing up we spent some wonderful time in BC with family. I love BC! The weather in June I am sure will be beautiful, and…what else can you do in Vancouver? Well, hang out with Whales of course! I’m in!

When we are willing to take 100% responsibility and let go…what is right and perfect unfolds!

What I have also discovered as part of my journey with SITH, is that Healerite is the perfect Ho’oponopono Companion Stone. Its a strong Water & Earth stone that helps us to open our hearts and connect with our emotions.

Robert Simmons writes: It is aligned with the energies of the heart, solar plexus and third eye chakras. It stimulates harmony, awareness, love and will to act together, empowering us to manifest them more fully than ever before. It is an excellent stone for encouraging the optimal emotional states of joy, expansiveness, generosity, intimacy and heart centered awareness. Visit our Sacred Stones Properties page or Stones Listed by their Element to learn more on Healerite. (Healerite is an Earth & Water Element Stone)

    Additional Ho’oponopono Resources

I found a Ho’oponopono Explained pdf online, that is part of a book and does a good job of explaining Ho’oponopono. The book is called Ho’oponopono secrets by Paul Jackson. I haven’t read this book yet, but Joe Vitale gives it positive reviews.

Another book I have just loaded onto my ipad is At Zero by Joe Vitale. This will be my next read. I’m sure this is going to be another favorite, it had great reviews for those interested in going deeper.

One last book that has great exercises is Ho’oponopono by Ulrich Emil Dupree. It’s a little book that shares all the concepts of Ho’oponopono, giving you the opportunity to work through challenges with guidance. It also breaks down the Family Conference Style Ho’oponopono, and gives you a different perspective from an author who has had interesting life experiences.

If you have stories or experiences with Ho’oponopono you would like to share, feel free to email me (Deborah) at

Do you use Tripadvisor for travel, restaurants or planning things to do? I have a reviewed a few places locally as well as some of the vacations we’ve done. Here is a link to my Tripadvisor reviews.

Safe & Peaceful Journey to All,
    Mahalo & Aloha!

    March 24th 2016

Last month I spoke about “Manifesting the Best Year of Our Lives”, and setting intentions. Thank you so much for all your feedback, it is greatly appreciated! I am so happy to hear that many of you are off to such a great start!

The topic of Fear has come up in our family recently and I know that many of us have had experiences in this area and some may be even holding you back from having the “Best Year of Your Life”.

In order for us to make room for the new and great things we are creating for ourselves, we need to be sure we have let go and released all that no longer serves us. Fear is one of the most common emotions that blocks our flow and has the biggest rewards when we can identify them and choose to work with them.

Fear can take us off our path, more often than actual attempts to try things and fail. Think about times that have come up for you when you have procrastinated, had creative blocks, unhealthy relationships, or things generally not going well in your life. Could the be in the your way of your harmony? Of course it could be other things, but why not do a little “Fear Check”?

Fear Can be a Good Thing and a False Thing…
When there is an actual threat, then our emotional response of fear serves us well to protect us from danger. Our fight or flight mechanism kicks in and helps to guide us to safety. It is also a true emotional response when we are about to lose someone or something that is important to us. These are very real experiences in our lives we all go through and cope with very differently.

However there is also the kind of fear that pops up that is false, when we are faced with taking action to achieve our dreams…personal, professional or spiritual. Here is a acronym that can help us to remember this type of fear…

    F - False
    - Evidence
    - Appearing
    - Real

Meaning there is no true threat of immediate physical danger, or of a loss of someone or something of value to us. It is an illusion that we fabricate in our minds, stories that we tell ourselves and make our bodies feel its real, by experiencing anxiety.

Most of us have experienced this type of fear. I have, one of my past fears of was around judgement. I use to really have a big button around being judged and I let it hold me back from a lot of things. The time I have spent healing this part of me has been one of my biggest lessons. I now embrace it with huge gratitude as it has taught me so much about myself and how to treat myself and others with kindness.

If you or someone you know is suffering from anxiety, there are many options available to you. I can only suggest as others have for me, to explore new and different ways of working with our fears as opposed to fighting them.

Here are a few resources that may inspire you…

    Breath work…

Great for all to watch and practice!

Robert Litman’s Youtube video on The Relationship Between Breathing and Anxiety is a great resource. Be sure to google him.

    Two Great Books!

Dr. Russ Harris, author of The Confidence Gap” offers a surprising solution to low self-confidence, shyness, and insecurity: Rather than trying to “get over” our fears, he says, the secret is to form a new and wiser relationship with them. Paradoxically, it’s only when we stop struggling against our fearfulness that we begin to find lasting freedom from it.

Drawing on the techniques of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a cutting-edge form of cognitive-behavioral therapy, “The Confidence Gap” explains how to:
    - Free yourself from misconceptions about what confidence is & how to build it
    - Transform your relationship with fear and anxiety
    - Clarify your core values & use them as your inspiration and motivation
    - Use mindfulness to effectively handle negative thoughts and feelings.

Thought provoking and great approach to work with your fears!

One of my favorite pages of this book says…“Do you have the courage to bring forth the treasures that are hidden within you? The universe buries strange jewels deep within us all, and then stands back to see if we can find them. The hunt to uncover those jewels - that’s creative living. The courage to go on the hunt in the first place - that’s what separates a mundane existence from a more enchanted one. The often surprising results of that hunt is what the author Elizabeth Gilbert calls “Big Magic”.

    A very inspiring book!

Sometimes just a few words are all we need to open the window and let the light shine in…

    A Healing Quote…
A wise woman once said… “What other people think and feel about me is none of my business”. What I feel and think about myself is! I really feel that! How about you?

    An Affirmation…
This is a really good one, but why not create your own?

I accept and love myself and create peace in my mind and heart. I am always divinely protected. - Thank you Louise Hay!

    Visual Release…
I love the photo above of the little girl blowing bubbles! It is such a great visual and physical act of release and who doesn’t love blowing bubbles?

Our Thoughts & the Words we choose…
Remember what we think about we bring about. So it is also important to shift the words we chose to use to more positive words when we speak to ourselves and others. Fear and anxiety can be great teachers, including the way we speak of them.

If in the past for example, we had been prone to anxiety attacks, why not turn it around and look at it more positively and think of it as an awareness event instead? What is anxiety but our bodies making us aware of something we need to deal with, right? Think about it. Would this not be helpful? This can teach us to calmly shift our focus to…what is my body trying to help me be aware of? Instead of… oh my god my heart is racing, I am totally stressed out, I am so afraid, I’m freaking out right now and all the repetitive chatter that occurs when we focus on the negative.

Are there words that you commonly use that could be turned around to teach your brain to see them as a positive experience?

Have you ever wondered if there was something more you could be doing to achieve better balance in your life?

    • To have more quality time with your family and friends?
    • To have a balanced diet and time to exercise.
    • To have ease with your finances?
    • To have time to learn new things?
    • To explore your spirituality?
    • To experience more joy?

If any of these thoughts have crossed your mind, I invite you to read on and explore the Realm of Astrology & Sacred Stones with me in an ALL NEW monthly feature called “Our Journey”.

Each month “Our Journey” will be about encouraging you, to get to know more about yourself, through your Birth Chart and Sacred Stones:

    • To assist you in bringing your elements into balance
    • To provide you with insights about your Sun Sign & Birth Chart
    • To help you release all that is no longer serving you in a positive way
    • To strengthen areas of challenge and build on areas of strength
    • To connect you with the supportive energies of Sacred Stones
    • To provide resources to help you navigate the current Astrological Energies (with a little help from friends and mentors)

There are a number of directions we could go to start this journey together and after considerable thought, I am guided to go back to where my journey began with “The Elements”. Back to 2013-14 when we worked on creating the final “Weekend in the Woods” event, where we focused on the Healing Elements of Nature. So this will be our first focus, starting with sharing with you some of the basics I have learned around “Balancing the Elements of Your Birth Chart.

But before I dive in, we need to make sure you have the tools you need, to go on this journey together… Starting with your Birth Chart!

Don’t have a Birth Chart? I am offering one FREE to all members of my mailing list!  Visit my website, fill out the form and I will send you your Birth Chart so you can follow along as we share different aspects of our Birth Charts each month.

Once you have your Birth Chart, locate the area that looks like this…

This is where you will find the balance of your Elements on the day you were born. (Fire, Earth, Air & Water)

You can see here that in this Chart, this persons Water is low, sitting at 2 and their Fire and Earth are both a little high. So for this person, it is going to be important that they support the Element of Water, as a priority and be mindful of keeping the Elements of Fire and Earth calm.

Steps to Guide You Through this Journey…

    1. Your Birth Chart:

Have a look at the Elemental Breakdown of your chart. What Elements are strong and balanced, what Elements need support?

    2. Learn About the Elements:

Achieving  balance and mastery of our Elements is a lifetime journey. We have the ability to achieve this with a little focus and guidance.

I have put together some great information for you about each of the Elements, to support you on this journey:

    • A Description of each of the Elements
    • What it looks like when specific Elements are in or out of balance
    • Sacred Stones to support each Element
    • Tips on how to bring better balance to each Element
    • Affirmations to utilize right away or inspire you to write your own

Now all you have to do is Visit Our Elements Page to learn more about how you can work with these different energies, to help you strengthen them.

    3. Create A Plan

Once we have learned the different ways we can bring our Elements into   Balance, we can then set intentions and begin to manifest our desires, with our   thoughts, our words and a plan! Baby steps and a little structure is all that is   needed.

What steps will you take to bring about more balance in your life?

    February 7th 2016

Many of us have seen “The Secret” movie and even put some of the principles into practice. But when was the last time you watched it and made a conscious effort to incorporate its principles? If you have never, it’s an absolute must! If you have but its been awhile, I highly recommend re-watching it. This movie and its concepts have changed my life, as it has for many others.

I re-watched it with a few of my Soul-Sistas, a couple of months ago, and it was crazy how perfectly timed it was for us. It was such a great refresher and reminder of the importance of practicing the principles to keep us on our manifesting track! In addition to our discussions, we set some awesome intentions which happened to be an incredible turning point for me last year. Simple actions can have the most profound impact!

So I thought what better way to start off the year, and introduce my new Blog, than by shining a light on The Law of Attraction, in hopes that others will also benefit from it. Timing is everything right?

You can find “The Secret” on Netflix, or perhaps someone in your circle of friends will have a copy. How about hosting your own “Secret Party” to help others as well?

I also want to share a list I found of 100 Quotes from the Movie, that a beautiful person took the time to compile. It’s a great tool to use while watching the movie to highlight the areas you really connect with and make notes. Then after the movie it can be used to write affirmations for yourself and to set your own intentions.

Here is the link to the list “100 Quotes from The Secret!”

When the practices of the Law of Attraction are incorporated into our daily lives, magic happens! I believe that watching The Secret, setting clear intentions, being conscious of our thoughts (what we think about, we bring about), feeling good about what we are doing, getting support from like-minded people and working with crystals, all support us Spiritual Beings to be on the right path and to get everything we need from our Human Experience.
